Development, Peace and Conflict Studies
The Department of Development, Peace and Conflict Studies supports development studies, peacebuilding, conflict analysis and social transformation, student mentorship and 12 active programmes within College of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Main Campus.
The Department of Development, Peace and Conflict Studies is consciously aware of the ever-changing demands of the contemporary world and is therefore offering academic programmes that meet such demands.
The Department of Development, Peace and Conflict Studies further recognizes the central role of development practitioners in public and private sector management. This has therefore guided course designs to train students in proper management of both sectors. One of the major principles of todaycâ¬âcs management is accountability and proper strategic human resources management all of which are addressed during the study period.

Vision
The Department of Development, Peace and Conflict Studies aspires to provide quality education that focusses on the development of culture of peace, tolerance, and mutual understanding as well as foster cooperation among peoples and help to minimize violence and other obstacles and threats to development in the East African Region.
Philosophy
In the department of Public Administration and Management, we believe that:
- An interdisciplinary approach to teaching and learning should be actively pursued and encouraged.
- The pursuit of scientific research as both a tool for practice and teaching should be encouraged and emphasized.
- Teaching and learning should be rigorous process that enshrines in the student a belief that hard work indeed leads to great results and corruption will only further degrade the society.
- Every student is unique and exceptional, it is our job as lecturers to identify, nurture and encourage the genius in each and every one of our students.
