The department of Finance and Accounting is a department under the College of Economics and Management (CEM) of Kampala International University. At the department of Finance and Accounting, we are committed to providing an enabling environment for our students to thrive academically and professional by ensuring that we have the right lecturers with the right skills, professional pedigree and experience to impart knowledge. The school is committed to an experiential mode of learning which allows students address and find solutions to real life problems through problem solving exercise, team building excercises, internship and many other activities.

Majority of students go on to lucrative careers in Accounting and a number of our pass students work in some of the major accounting and auditing firms in Uganda and parts of East Africa.

Objectives

  • Provide competent instruction in relevant accounting techniques and issues
  • Support students in experiential learning to foster their academic, career and personal growth
  • Equip our students with advanced analytical skills in economics and statistics
  • Provide students with skills to enable them pursue a career in the public and private sectors and remain internationally competitive
  • Equip our students with skills that will enable them pursue a career in research and contribute to national and international discourse about economies around the world.
  • Prepare students for further studies in the field of economics and statistics or a related field.

Mission

We are committed to providing the highest levels of excellence in teaching and we thrive to prepare our undergraduate and post graduate students to become productive and contributing members of the society. We strongly believe in the ideals of research and the opportunities it provides in the field of finance and accounting and work tirelessly to ensure we pursue local and international collaborations to keep abreast of the latest in this field. Furthermore, in the department of finance and accounting, we run a market driven curriculum which ensures that we are constantly discussing and addressing real-life national and regional issues in the classroom, to prepare our students and ensure they understand the expectations and guiding principles in this field of endeavor.

Vision

To provide our students with an exceptional learning experience in Finance and Accounting and to become the institution of  first choice for people seeking a career in Accounting, government ministries, international banking and many more.

Our philosophy aligns closely with that of the College of Economics and Management of Kampala International University and it guides our action, curriculum and conduct of staff members in the department of Finance and Accounting of Kampala International University. It also ensures were are preparing our students to be relevant in their respective specializations when they complete their programs with us.
