Hospitality and Leisure
The Department of Hospitality and Leisure supports economic analysis, markets, policy and development thinking, student mentorship and 6 active programmes within College of Economics and Management at the Main Campus.
The department of Leisure and hospitality is a department under the College of Economics and Management (CEM) of Kampala International University. At the department of Leisure and Hospitality, we are committed to providing an enabling environment for our students to thrive academically and professional by ensuring that we have the right lecturers with the right skills, professional pedigree and experience to impart knowledge. The department works closely with some of the biggest hotels, tourists organisations and other companies in the hospitality industry in Uganda to provide our students with the opportunity to learn from industry experts.
Hospitality and Leisure is one the thriving economic sector in Uganda and as we are committed to exposing our students to the opportunities, as well as the challenges faced in this sector. BY addressing this challenges, we expose our students to even better opportunities, which will position them for a career in this highly competitive industry.
Majority of students go on to lucrative careers in the leisure and hospitality industry in Uganda and rest of East Africa and others proceed for further studies in order to pursue a career in academic or research.
Objectives
- Provide competent instruction in relevant accounting techniques and issues
- Provide our students with important and relevant skills that will enable them pursue a career in the hospitality industry in Uganda and anywhere in the world.
- Support students in experiential learning to foster their academic, career and personal growth
- Prepare students for further studies in the field of Leisure and hospitality.
Mission
Our mission is to prepare students for successful career in Human Resource and supplies management in world-class and highly competitive organizations by fostering intellectual and personal growth, developing specific skill sets relevant to the global business community. We place emphasis on innovative programs, experiential learning, delivered with a focus on individual learning outcomes, applied research and active engagement with external stakeholders.

To provide our students with an exceptional learning experience in Human Resource and Supplies Management and to become the institution of first choice for people seeking a career in Human resource management, industrial relations, procurement and supply chain management.
