Law and Jurisprudence
The Department of Law and Jurisprudence supports legal education, justice, rights and professional legal practice, student mentorship and 1 active programme within School of Law at the Main Campus.
The department of law and jurisprudence is one of the four departments in the school of law, Kampala International University, Uganda. The department, which operates under the leadership of a head of department, has been in existence since the establishment of the school of law. Some of the courses taught in the department include: introducing law, law and development, legal methods, nature and history of torts, equity and trusts, family law, law of evidence, land law, and research methods.
Objectives
In order to provide a balanced training to our students, the department has the core objective of providing teaching in the theoretical and philosophical foundations of law.
Mission
To achieve excellence in the provision of teaching for the courses domiciled in the school of law.
Vision
The department shares the same broad vision as the school of law, and specifically seeks to produce graduates with lifelong analytical skills on legal issues.
Philosophy
In addition to promoting the mandate and vision of the university and the school of law, the department provides a dynamic learning environment to enable students learn and become outstanding lawyers and leaders in society.
