Physical Sciences
The Department of Physical Sciences supports physical sciences, experimentation and applied scientific reasoning, student mentorship and 10 active programmes within School of Natural and Applied Sciences at the Main Campus.
The Department of Physical Sciences is an academic centre with an international disposition, where staff members from different backgrounds can amalgamate their talents with the common goal of being a leading Department in Kampala. Our research is rooted in interdisciplinary institutes with stakeholders in our society, which results in the ability of foundational and applied sciences to build up one another.
Objectives
The objectives of the department are to:
- Teach professional Science students who are proficient in making precise monitoring and procedure.
- Confer in students analytical skills that can enable them to play a part to the education sector.
- Evolve students for employments in primary schools, secondary schools, and post-secondary schools.
- Produce competent students in applied sciences for graduate study.
Mission
To provide leadership in pursuing facts in Applied Sciences and its application via standard interdisciplinary tutoring, research and consultancy to enhance the well-being of mankind.
Vision
To be a leading and excellent department in the pursuit of knowledge to safe-guide, spread and apply such in Applied Sciences. The department will continue to provide the lofty quality at undergraduate (BSc) and graduate (MSc & PhD) levels of study.
Philosophy
The Department of Physical Sciences regards the peculiarities and potentials of students across the divides of various areas of specialization in Applied Sciences. For this reason, an equal-opportunity climate is supported, furnished and strengthened for all-inclusive growth of students in the Department via a integrative approach to teaching and learning.
