The department of Political and Administrative Studies acknowledges a fact that Social scientists generally and public servants or administrators specifically, regardless of their level of expertise, ought to possess generic competence as a result of their training. It is in this spirit therefore that this Department is duty-bound to provide the learners with the basic as well as advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of their respective specialization i.e. degree and diploma programmes or certificate, and expose them to better understanding of the various factors that influence (or have influenced) modern approaches to social science. The Department has two degree programmes, two diploma programmes and one certificate programme. The degree programmes include; Bachelor of Public Administration, Bachelor of Arts in International Relations. Each of the above programmes has a diploma programme. In addition to the degree and diploma programmes, the department of Political and Administrative Studies also has a certificate programme in Public Administration (i.e.National Certificate in Public Administration and Management)-NCPA.

The Department of Public Administration provides high-quality education that prepares students to engage in service following ethical principles, and engagement that creates relevant and accessible knowledge to address complex societal issues and respond effectively to the dynamics of the ever changing world.

Philosophy

In the department of Public Administration and Management, we believe that:

The public trust in elected, employed and appointed civil and public servants should be respected.
Practitioners of Public Administration and management should go about their duties with integrity and professionalism in the interest of the public and the society at large.
Teaching and learning should be rigorous process that enshrines in the student a belief that hard work indeed leads to great results and corruption will only further degrade the society.
Every student is unique and exceptional, it is our job as lecturers to identify, nurture and encourage the genius in each and every one of our students.
