Course Description

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course deals with the application of the design concepts taught in the  Mechanical

Engineering profession. During the first semester, the  student is expected to develop a research project proposal and defend it through an oral presentation.

 

LEARNING OBJECTIVE:

At the end of this course, the student should be able to:

·    Develop  skills  to  identify and  conceptualize  a  technical  problem in  his  area  of specialty, which can be addressed through scientific means.

·    Determine appropriate tools for  data  collection  and  analysis to  come  up  with  a scientific solution to a technical problem.

·   Gain proposal writing skills to address challenges in the industry

·   Gain expertise in defending and refining project proposals.

 

LEARNING OUTCOMES

A student on completing this course is expected to:

·   Define an engineering problem and determine appropriate tools to address it.

·   Produce a research project proposal that is word processed and in bound form.

·   Present and defend the proposal orally before a panel of examiners.
