Course Description


This course deals with ecosystems-life support systems in the environment, water quality

management, air pollution and control, noise pollution, land use & control of soil pollution, wetlands use and management, environmental legislation and policies, environmental impact analysis and monitoring of development projects.

COURSE JUSTIFICATION/RATIONALE

To  learn  the  fundamental  concepts  of  environmental  pollution  prevention  and  cleaner production

COURSE OBJECTIVES

At the end of this course, the student should be able to:

  •     Outline the  major causes of environmental pollution and its  impacts locally and globally.
  •  Appreciate the range of pollution abatement strategies.
  •   Outline the legislation designed to protect the environment, economic aspects of pollution and its control and the role of environmental education in pollution control.
