COURSE
JUSTIFICATION
As the sacred scripture of Islam, the Qur’an has
primary authority in the way Muslims understand their faith. It is important to
explore the function of the Qur’an in Muslim societies and the importance of
both recitation and writing in transmitting the text from generation to
generation, some “sciences of the Qur’an” including the significance of the
Qur’an as Divine Word, the context of revelation and the structure of the text.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is
designed to equip a student teacher of Islamic Religious Education with the
relevant knowledge and insight into how the glorious Quran addresses itself to
the contemporary spiritual, moral, social, economic and political issues. In
particular, it should focus on the relevant teachings and sessions drawn from
the Quran as a holy book of guidance to the Islamic morality/good conduct since
it since it is the first and most important source of a Muslim’s faith and
ethics as it seeks to map out his/her way forward in a milieu of present day
world’s challenges/problems.
COURSE AIM
The
course aims to enable student teachers to explore the function of the Qur’an in
