Course Description

Course Description

This Course introduces students to the field of Artificial Intelligence and gives an overview of intelligent systems.  It gives students a broad grounding in artificial intelligence and its applications including a variety of symbolic and sub-symbolic learning and reasoning techniques. It also looks at three fundamental aspects of AI: knowledge, reasoning and learning. In addition, expert systems, development process and its applications are also discussed.

 

Objectives

1.      Understand the basic concepts and definitions of artificial intelligence (AI)

2.      Become familiar with the AI field and its evolution

3.      Understand and appreciate the importance of knowledge in decision support

4.      To equip students with the knowledge and skills in logic

5.      programming using Prolog;

6.      To explore the different paradigms in knowledge representation and reasoning;

7.      Become accounted with the concepts and evolution of rule-based expert systems (ES)

8.      Understand the general architecture of rule-based expert systems

9.    Learn the knowledge engineering process, a systematic way to build ES
