Course Description

This course introduces students to a basic understanding of the growth and development process of children as well as the factors that influence the development process of children. Students are expected to develop appreciation for the needs of children in various situations.

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of the course, students should be able to:

§  Explain the concepts of Early Childhood Education and Development

§  Examine the factors which influence the process of child growth and development and how these factors can be overcome

§  Discuss the universal needs of young children.

§  Demonstrate appreciation for the needs of children and the challenges they face in the process of development as they grow up
