The course Unit covers aspects of the structure, components, division and functions of cells. Also examines evolution of current cells from primitive cells

COURSE AIM

The course intends to introduce students to cells, these are the basic units of life and biology is the study of life thus teacher trainees must acquire basic knowledge on cell biology

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of the course, students should be able to:

·                     Describe gross and fine structure of a cell

·                     Discuss the structure and functions of cell organelles

·                     Describe the prokaryotic and eukaryotic cell organization

·                     Describe cell division, communication and specialization
