Description
The course introduces the learners to
the traditional, contemporary and emerging theories, approaches and models in
early childhood education. It focus on
the thrusts of pre-primary teacher education, principles and
requirements of early childhood education. It also includes the Code of Ethics,
protection and well-being of children, families and communities.

Aim
The course aims to introduce students
tovarious approaches and models of early
childhood care and development nationally and internationally and how these can
be applied in the Ugandan early childhood education context.
Course Learning Outcomes
By
the end of the course students should be able to:
1. Identify the
approaches and models of early childhood care and development
2. Examine the principles underlying the ECD models and
approaches.
3. Demonstrate how these models and approaches can be
applied in a Ugandan ECD Context.
