The Course Unit will cover the structure,
diversity, occurrence, evolutionary significance and economic importance lower plants (Pteridophytes,
Bryophytes, Algae) which are a key component of the ecosystem, emphasizing
course will enable the students to understand the biology of lower plants thus
be in a prime position to teach it in secondary schools
EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES
the end of the course unit the student will be able to;
knowledge of evolutionary relationships and nutritional characteristics of the Pteridophytes, Bryophytes, Algae and
the morphological characteristics of the Pteridophytes, Bryophytes, Algae and Gymnosperms
the structures and life histories of the representative groups.
the economic importance of the members of the above groups of plants.
