Course Description

Course Description

The course focuses on childhood teaching competencies under guided supervision. Child centered, play-oriented approaches to teaching, learning, and assessment; and knowledge of curriculum content areas are emphasized as student teachers design, implement and evaluate experiences that promote positive development and learning for all young children.

Course Aim

This unit aims to deepen students’ understandings and develop the skills needed in the relevant legislative, administrative and organizational policies and processes required for teachers in early childhood settings and schools and general useful information about early childhood settings and schools as institutional work sites and as elements of systems.

Course Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course unit, students should be able to;

·         Describe school management and administration, leadership, administrative styles, motivation and decision making.

·         Explain the contemporary issues in school administration in Uganda.
