Course Description

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course focuses on technologies and methods employed in civil engineering construction projects.  It covers the theory and practice of construction operations, equipment utilization and construction methods. Analysis of costs. Optimizing crew and equipment. Heavy equipment costs. New emphasis on planning and executing a construction project.

 

COURSE JUSTIFICATION/RATIONALE

The course provides an understanding of machine capabilities and how to properly apply those capabilities to construction challenges as well as safety and the management of construction operations.

 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

By the end of this course, the student should be able to:

·        Assess and understand relevant construction operations and methods.

·        Identify the required equipment and technologies

·        Conduct and assessment for optimal utilisation of construction equipment.

·        Understand cost analysis and equipment utilization
