Course Content and Outline

COURSE CONTENT

  • Introduction to Logic: logic statements, truth tables. Statements, truth tables, “AND”, “OR” operators, implications, “$” and “"” operators.
  • Introduction to Algebra: sets, relations, functions, equations, inequalities. Polynomials and their properties. Number systems: Naturals, Integers, Rationals, Reals, Complex numbers.
  • How to prove theorems: main methods, induction. 
  • Basic number theory: Divisibility, Euclidean algorithm. Prime numbers, unique factorization, the integers modulo m.
  • Binary operation over sets.  Equivalence and ordered relation. Introduction to algebric structures: groups.
