Course Content and Outline

COURSE CONTENT

·         Countable and uncountable sets, the real numbers revised, order, least upper bounds,

·         The Archimedian property and completeness.

·         Sequences of real numbers, monotone sequences, convergence, subsequence, the Bolzanno-Weierstrass property and compactness.

·         Series. Ratio test, root test, power series, absolute convergence, rearrangements.

·         Basic Topology: metric spaces, distances, balls. Open and closed sets, the Heine-Borel theorem, compactness, connectedness.
