Course Description

COURSE DESCRIPTION

To understand several important advacend concepts in linear algebra, including: vector spaces; linear independence of vectors; subspaces, bases, and dimension of vector spaces; inner product spaces; orthongonalization; linear transformations; and eigenvalues and eigenvectors; diagonalization.

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this course unit, students should be able to:

  • Explain several important advanced concepts in linear algebra, including: vector spaces; linear independence of vectors; subspaces, bases, and dimension of vector spaces; inner product spaces.
  • Prove basic theorems involving vector spaces; linear independence of vectors; subspaces, bases, and dimension of vector spaces; inner product spaces.
  • Orthongonalization; linear transformations; and eigenvalues and eigenvectors; diagonalization.
