PURPOSE OF
THE COURSE
This course equips students with knowledge on the
conceptual and philosophical aspects that define the human rights discourse in
pre-colonial and post-colonial Uganda. It also introduces students to legal
provisions related to human rights and institutions that promote and protect
human rights in Uganda.
LEARNING
OUTCOMES
By the end of the course students should be able to:

Analyze the notion of human rights in traditional and
pre-colonial societies in Uganda

Discuss the colonial and post-colonial
conceptualization of human rights in Uganda.

Outline the legal and institutional framework
protecting human rights in Uganda.
