Course Description

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This is an introductory course in Numerical Analysis. It covers analysis and development of numerical algorithms for: the solution of nonlinear equations, as well as interpolation, numerical differentiation and methods for evaluating definite integrals when analytical techniques cannot be applied.

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this course unit, students should be able to:

·      Describe concepts like: Floating-Point Arithmetic. Floating-Point Arithmetic (continued); Measuring Efficiency.

·      Apply numerical methods for Solving Nonlinear Equations; Linear Algebra problems; Solving Differentiation and Numerical Integration problem.

·      Apply numerical algorithms on computers.
