Course Content and Outline

  1. General Introduction: data types, descriptive and inferential statistics (3 hours)
  2. Central tendency: means mode, median (3 hours)
  3. Variability: Variance, Standard Deviation (3 hours)
  4. The Normal Distribution: The normal and standardised normal curve,  t-    distribution and z-distribution (4 hours)
  5. Distribution of Sample means: Standard error  and confidence Interval (3 hours)
  6. Statistical testing: Null and alternative hypothesis (3 hours)
  7. Statistical testing: Parametric and Non-parametric analyses (3 hours)
  8. Comparing 2 small means: t-test and Mann-Whitney U test (3 hours)
  9. Comparing 2 matched sample means Paired t-test and Wilcoxon test (3 hours)
  10. Bivariate data:  Correlation and  Regression analysis (3 hours)
  11. Analysis of nominal variable: Chi-Square test (3 hours)
  12. Comparing more than 2 means: One-way Anova and Kruskal-Wallis test (3 hours)
  13. Comparing means of more than 2 different groups, classified two ways:, Two-     way ANOVA and Friedman Test (3 hours)
