Introduction:

Computer systems, Information and Communication Technology – ICT, data and information management 1 LH

Components of a Computer system: Hardware – input, processor, memory, output, storage and communications. Software – system and applications 1 LH

Classification of Computers: Microcomputers, minicomputers, mainframe computers and super computers. 1 LH

Computer Peripherals:

  • Printers, scanners, projectors, digital cameras etc. 1 LH
  • Operating System: Utilities and operating software. 1 LH
  • MS Windows: Introduction to Microsoft Windows. 1 LH
  • Principles of data management: Setting up files, modifying, storing, data processing and analysis. 1 LH

MS Word:

  Definition, terminology and types of word processing. The layout of the Ms Word screen; creating a document saving and retrieving a document, editing features; deleting, inserting a character, word paragraph and a line; bolding, cantering, underlining, indenting text; subscripts; superscripts, speller, thesaurus, word counters. 1 LH

Excel Spread Sheet: 

Definition, terminology, types of spread-sheet. Word sheet lay out, Erase, column, window insert, delete. Range; table, formatting common files; copying documents; absolute and relative copy; data commands; database, data query, data sort. Graph commands, creating graphs, saving and printing. 1 LH

Introduction to Internet: Concept of e-mail and its practical usage. How to request medical information, how to subscribe to discussion list, how to navigate through Internet using Netscape and the WEB. How to subscribe to Internet, hardware requirements and cost. 1 LH

Power Point:

Creating presentations, applying design, rehearsing timing, animations and transitions.
