Course Description

PURPOSE OF COURSE

The course is to enable students acquire mathematical tools that provide a foundation for understanding other courses in economics. Students are grounded on how to use such tools in microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics and related courses.

 

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of the course unit, students should be able to:

  • Discuss the fundamental aspects of mathematical tools
  • Demonstrate how the use of formal mathematical reasoning can produce a deeper understanding of economic theory
  • Explain the skills in use of mathematical tools and illustrate them with application of economic theory.
