Course Justification

Agriculture being the backbone of Uganda’s economy needs thorough thought and understanding by the student of economics. This course explores the details of society’s agricultural dynamics from an economics angle. 

Course Description

Agricultural Economics course provide students with Knowledge and skills on how producers, traders, consumers and society as a whole use scarce resources in the production, processing, marketing and consumption of food and fiber products.

Course Aim

The aim of the course is to equip the learner with knowledge about the agriculture sector and the economic decisions that individuals and households take as far as the sector is concerned and their multiplier effects.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course unit, students should demonstrate ability to:

·         Explain the field of Agricultural Economics as a subset of the general field of Economics.

·         Identify and apply the basic concepts and principles of Agricultural Economics in real life situations

·         Discuss the most important considerations in the application of Agricultural Economics theories.
