COURSE JUSTIFICATION
Teacher
trainees need to be provided with the opportunity to gain new or updated
knowledge and skills in the curriculum design and development process. Current
research, resources and policies on appropriate curriculum design, teaching
models and effective strategies will be explored, for effective learning
outcomes across a variety of supportive learning environments.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
The
course introduces students to key principles of the curriculum design and
development process through an examination of the following processes: needs analysis, curriculum and syllabus
design, the planning and evaluation of units of work, strategies, techniques
and resources for a variety of learners and contexts, assessment and reporting,
the design, implementation and evaluation of educational programs, and the role
of the teacher and stakeholders in the curriculum development process
COURSE AIM
The
course aims to develop students’ knowledge and skills in curriculum design and
development to enable them design and implement learning and teaching programs
using knowledge of national and international curriculum, assessment and
reporting requirements.
