Course Description

This course is important to students of Kiswahili Language to equip them with skills of translating Kiswahili words to English.   

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course introduces the student to the structure of Kiswahili words. It focuses on different morphemes and allomorphs that constitute different categories of Kiswahili words and the relevance of this knowledge in the teaching and learning of the Kiswahili language.

COURSE AIM:

  • To enable the students master the theory and process of translation in Kiswahili language.

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOME

Upon completion of this course, learners should be able to:

  • Carry out the process of translation from one language to another
  • Identify the challenges encountered during translation and their solutions
  • Identify and choose suitable translation methodology for a particular type of text
