Course Description

This course will equip the student with knowledge of western music instruments, simple and compound musical forms and history of western music during different periods; main composers’ lives and music works.

Course Objectives

By the end of the course, the student should be able to:

  • Classify and give examples of western music instruments, explain different simple and compound western musical forms.
  • Explain the major characteristics of western music composed during different music periods and explain major issues in the lives and works of selected composers of different music periods.
