  • Instruments of the Western orchestra; woodwind, brass, percussion and strings; examples  and their evolution in different music eras
  • Western musical forms; Simple forms like Binary & Ternary; Compound forms like Rondo, Minuet & Trio, Sonata.
  • The symphony, concerto, mass, opera, cantata and oratorio; evolution of each form
  • Western Music of the Baroque, Classical and Romantic and other periods; general characteristics
  • Composers of the Antiquity, medieval, Baroque, Classical and Romantic periods; life and works of each   Instructional Methods
  • Lectures, field work, demonstrations, project work and group discussions
