Course Content and Outline

  • Introduction to music craftsmanship; what it is, importance and examples of music craftsmen
  • Storage and repair of selected Ugandan music instruments; chordophones, aerophones, membranophones, idiophones; tools and materials used and procedure followed to make selected music instruments
  • Costumes and Props; what they are and their role in different community music performances
  • Storage, repair, design and making music costumes and props
  • Writing projects about origin, importance and making selected music instruments, costumes and props
