Course Content and Outline

  1. Roles of instruments in folk music production, Classes and types of music instruments with their local names
  2. Playing techniques of selected melodic instruments; idiophones, chordophones, aerophones
  3. A candidate will choose one major plus one minor instrument and prepare two songs according to the cultural performance practice of the community where the instrument originates. One individual of the songs on each instrument will be solo and the second an ensemble. Individual and group instruction and supervision on how the instruments are played shall be done.
