Course Description

This course provides students with a theoretical and contextual understanding of the intersections between law and development

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of the course, students should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of the different conceptions of development and how these relate to the law.
  2. Articulate the role of law in economic growth and the broader sense of development e.g. democratization.
  3. Critically analyze the impact of globalizing processes and international institutions on domestic law particularly in developing countries.
  4. Critically examine the role of law and legal institutions in promoting social change.
