Course Description

This course provides introductory elements of criminal law.  It introduces students to the theories of crime, general principles of criminal liability and historical origins of criminal law. The course acquaints them with the concept of participation and liability for crimes.

 LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of the course students should:

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of the general principles of criminal liability.
  2. Discuss the general defences and apply them to practical scenarios.
  3. Distinguish criminal law from other branches of municipal law.
