Course Description

This course will help the student understand the socio-economic factors that have evolved to influence the content of the Constitution of Uganda.  The present day constitutional order was not developed in vacuum. It has been informed by the socio-economic and political factors that have blended over the years from the time of establishment of Tanzania as a modern state at the advent of colonialism. The course is purposed to introduce the learners to the evolution and influence of historical development of the law.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  1. Explain the evolution and influence of historical developments upon contemporary reality.
  2. Analyze and explain how customary law and colonial law blend in constitutional development.
  3. Demonstrate the jurisprudence of the current constitutional framework.
  4. State the fundamental rights of a Ugandan Citizens and their redresal mechanism
