Course Description

  • The course provides a comprehensive introduction to a range of jurists and schools of jurisprudence. It encourages the development of philosophical reasoning and reflection.

LEARNING OUTCOMES                                                            

By the end of the course students should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate an appreciation of the historical relationship between the key jurists and schools covered within the syllabus;
  2. Make comparisons between the work of such key jurists and schools;
  3. Draw a link between law, morality and other societal norms as expounded by different scholars;
  4. Explain the strengths and weaknesses of the work of such key jurists and schools;
  5. Analyze using concepts drawn from the work of the key jurists or schools studied.
