Course Description

  • This course will help a student to understand the obligations of a banker to a customer and vice-versa.  The students will also be introduced to the different types of negotiable instruments and their role in business transactions. It will also help students understand how banking institutions are regulated.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of the course, students should be able to:

  1. Discuss the introduction of the law of banking in East Africa.
  2. Explain how the financial institutions are regulated in Uganda
  3. Discuss banker-customer relationship and the duties they owe to each other and remedies.
  4. Discuss different form of negotiable instruments and rights of holders of the same.
  5. Understand the issue of security in the banking business.
