Course Description

 

2.   Course Justification/Rationale

 

During this course the students will be acquainted with the various research methods and the stages involved in preparing a research proposal.   Main aim of the course is the training of a wide spectrum of health science students on cutting-edge methodologies and technologies that will assist them in planning and conducting research programs, thus advancing their academic and professional career. Upon completion of the course, the students will become familiar with the basic principles of medical research methodology, and will be able to apply the basic principles of evidence-based medicine in everyday clinical practice.

 

3.   Course Description

 

This course will provide an opportunity for students to establish or advance their understanding of research through critical exploration of research language, ethics, and approaches. The course introduces the language of research, ethical principles and challenges, and the elements of the research process within quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods approaches. Participants will use these theoretical underpinnings to begin to  critically  review  literature  relevant  to  their  field  or  interests  and  determine  how research findings are useful in forming their understanding of their work, social, local and global environment.
