Course Description

COURSE JUSTIFICATION/RATIONALE

The course will provide the learner with concise and thorough knowledge of

 

Anatomical formation of the thorax, abdomen, pelvis and perineum to enable students understand their functioning when they study the Physiology and pathophysiology of organs there-in.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

 

This will be a theoretical and practical course in which students will be exposed to dissection and demonstrations.

To introduce to the students the gross Anatomy of the trunk and its contents to enable them relate it to function and disease.

COURSE AIMS

 

a.   By the end of this course, the student will be able to:

 

b.   Comprehend the normal disposition, inter-relationships, gross, functional and applied Anatomy of the various structures of the thorax including cross– sectional Anatomy.

c.   Comprehend the normal disposition, inter-relationships, gross, functional and applied Anatomy of the various structures of the viscera organs of abdomen and pelvis including cross–sectional Anatomy.


d.   Identify all the major structures associated with the thorax i.e. muscle, arterial and nerve supply

e.   Give detail description of the bone composition, attachment of the muscles (origin and insertion), course and relations of the arterial supply, nerve innervations and lymphatic drainage.

f.   Name and explain the clinical features of the various parts and the

 

PHAtomical/ clinical significance of the parts
