The course shall expose the students to an appreciation
of the structural and
of cells and tissues in presumably normal state. It will also promote the concept of current cytological and histological techniques
identifying the various types of tissues in the body.
This will be
a theoretical and practical course in which lectures, tutorials for critical thinking
practicals will be conducted to equip students with knowledge of the
microscopic structure of the different systems and organs so as to understand better their functions.
By the end of
this course, the students should
be able to:

b. Enumerate the
techniques and functional
applications of cytology and histology.
Define and explain
the cell in relation to
its environment, surface components and content.
d. Describe the interrelationship
and interdependency between cell structures and functions.
Identify the microscopic appearance of tissues
bones, cartilage etc in
relation to their staining.
