COURSE JUSTIFICATION
This course will introduce students to endocrine and reproductive systems, their inter- relations and how they functionally relate with other organ systems.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This will be a theoretical and practical course in which animal models will be used where applicable to acquaint students with functioning of the endocrine and reproductive systems and how they affect other organ systems and themselves affected by other factors COURSE AIMS
By the end of this course, the student should be able to do the following;
a. Describe the components of Endocrine gland and their roles in the normal functioning of the body.
b. Describe the functional Anatomy of the hormones and discuss the roles played in the normal functioning of the body.
COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of this course, the student should be able to do the following;
a. List organs/tissues which secret hormones in the human body
b. Describe the Hormone: chemical nature and functional classification
c. Discuss the functional relationships between hypothalamus, anterior pituitary gland, and , liver, thyroid, and adrenal cortex
d. Explain hormonal control in Homeokinesis of Blood sugar, water, Na, and K, Ca, and Phosphate
e. Explain the hormonal regulation of fight or free r
