ii.      Urinary tract functions

 

b.        FUNCTIONAL ANATOMY OF RENAL AND URINARY TRACT (2 LH)

 

i.      Gross Anatomy

 

ii.      Functional unit of the Kidney nephron

 

iii.       Histology of epithelium in various regions of the nephron. iv.         gross Anatomy of the urinary tract.

c.               BLOD FLOW TO AND THROUGH THE KIDNEYS (2 LH)

 

i.      Amount relative to cardiac output ii.      Distribution within the kidney

iii.       Blood pressure in glomerular and peritubular capillaries iv. Flow through the vasa recta.

d.              GLOMERULAR FUNCTIONS (2 LH)

 

i.      Histology of the filtration barrier ii.      Factors which determine filtration iii.     Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR) iv.      Physiological Regulation of GFR

v.      Volume and composition of the filtrate.

 

e.               PROXIMAL TUBULAR FUNCTIONS (2 LH)
