Labour Economics

PURPOSE OF COURSE

The course introduces the economies of labour market which encompasses many of the most important issues in economics.

The students are taught how labour economics deals with the major sources of personal income, its determination and how it differs for different individuals

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of the course unit students should be able to:

• Explain the functioning and dynamics of the market for workers which function through the interaction of workers and employers.
• Discuss that labour economics looks at the suppliers of labour (workers) the demanders of labour services (employers) and the resulting pattern of wages, employment and income.
• Explain the key ideas to students, they will be able to understand the features of the  core neoclassical  microeconomic theory
