Students design a research project with specified aims and objectives in an applied field of engineering for their respective areas of specialisation. This incorporates a review of relevant literature, proposes data capture, analysis and output of results in the respective fields. The students will write Thesis s in line with the University Guidelines.
COURSE JUSTIFICATION/RATIONALE
To emphasis on the technical/scientific/artistic aspects of the subject matter to enable the student to develop deeper knowledge, understanding, capabilities and attitudes in the context of the programme of study. It is written at the end of the programme and offers the opportunity to delve more deeply into and synthesise knowledge acquired in previous studies
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
By the end of this course, the student should be able to:
Develop research questions, design research projects, collect data from various sources, and present findings in a scientific way.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
A student completing the course is expected to demonstrate:
Capability to carry out independent research
Considerably more in-depth knowledge of the major subject/field of study, including deeper insight into current research and development work.
Deeper knowledge of methods in the major subject/field of study.
A capability to contribute to research and development work.
The capability to use a holistic view to critically, independently and creatively identify, formulate and deal with complex issues.
The capability to plan and use adequate methods to conduct qualified tasks in given frameworks and to evaluate this work.
The capability to create, analyse and critically evaluate different technical/architectural solutions.

The capability to clearly present and discuss the conclusions as well as the knowledge and arguments that form the basis for these findings in written and spoken English.
