Mathematics For Chemical Engineers I
This course tackles basic concepts of calculus and functions. It includes an in-depth treatment of mathematical functions, series and sequences (Properties and types), differential calculus (differentiation and its applications particularly to the field of chemical engineering), techniques of integration and applications of integral calculus. The course introduces differential equations of simple first and second order systems with emphasis on their applications in chemical engineering.
The course is intended to;
- Acquaint and prepare students with a background necessary for future learning of course units such as, Fluid mechanics, Heat transfer, mass transfer, Transport Phenomena, Chemical Engineering thermodynamics and Process control and analysis.
- Teach students how to apply theories and principles of mathematics to solve chemical engineering problems and control chemical process.
