COURSE CODE: ICH 2115
COURSE CREDIT UNIT: 3
ACADEMIC PROGRAMME: Industrial Chemistry, Bachelor
COLLEGE/SCHOOL/FACULTY: School of Engineering and Applied Sciences
STATUS: Core
PROGRAMME TYPE: Undergraduate

Course Description

This course is concerned with the principles of chemical engineering kinetics.  In here, students are introduced to the exploitation of chemical reactions on  a commercial scale for the successful design and  operation of chemical  reactors.   Relevant knowledge and information is obtained from disciplines like Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Thermodynamics, Fluid mechanics, Economics and Kinetics.  This course is the synthesis of all this knowledge and it forms the basis for the reactor design course offered in third year.

Course Objectives

The course is intended:

  • To introduce to students the fundamentals of chemical Reaction Engineering.
  • To equip students with relevant skills and techniques for the collection, processing and interpretation of chemical reaction engineering data.
  • To provide practical skills to students to enable them solve chemical reaction engineering problems through logic rather than
