Course Description

PURPOSE OF COURSE

This course is designed to enable students learn about the concepts, procedures and management and contracts and projects to enable their successful implementation.  The understanding of how to manage contracts and projects will enhance the learner’s capability in ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget and with the stated quality to attain value for money.  Many projects are ruined or in completed due to bad contract management and poor project implementation.  Contract and Project management will provide practical skills and knowledge to students on how to handle all issues and challenges of project management.

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of the course unit, students should be able to:

  • Explain the Set up Contract management procedures
  • Evaluate the role and value of contracts in project implementation.
  • Determine appropriate approaches to the management of contracts, including payment methods.
  • Attain ability to design and manage costs during contract implementation.
  • Evaluate dispute resolution methods and their applicability during project implementation.
  • Discuss the recommendations on the best way to manage contracts and projects to achieve value for money and the stated objectives.
