Course Description

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course emphasizes the cost effectiveness of the material and operations management systems on site and office (designs) to meet with the agreements of financial status of the project.

 

COURSE JUSTIFICATION/RATIONALE

To provide hands-on experience on estimation of RCC, steel, masonry buildings and roads and culverts and inculcate the fundamentals of valuation, contracts and tendering

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

By the end of this course, the student should be able to:

·        Understand the purpose/importance of construction estimates

·        Understand how to estimate construction works in all forms

·        Explain terms relating to measurement of building works

·        Gain knowledge on valuation rate analysis, preparation and interpretation of specifications

A student on completing this course is expected to:

·        Apply valuation method of land and other types of property

·        Apply knowledge on preparation and interpretation of specifications

·        Analyse rates for different works
