Course Description

This course introduces the students to the logical steps in designing a chemical process plant called preliminary design. It includes materials and energy balances, preliminary design and detailed mechanical design of equipments and their interactions to make a meaningful process. Piping and instrumentation diagrams, and preliminary cost estimation.

Course Objectives

The course is intended:

  • To teach students the practice of chemical plant design.
  •    To familiarize students with steps normally taken to execute a plant design..
  •   To prepare students to work in both process industries and in Chemical Plant Design firms.
