This course is concerned with the development of momentum rate conservation equations for steady state fluid flow in pipes and solid surfaces. These are solved and the results are utilized in the consideration of heat and mass transfer phenomena at a fluid-solid interface. Analogies (relationships) among, momentum, heat and mass transfer are derived, solved and applied to various systems.
This course is intended:
- To give students a fundamental understanding of the transfer of momentum, mass and energy (transport phenomena) in fluid flows.
- To enable students appreciate and apply transport phenomena to real industrial problems.
