Course Description

This course is concerned with the theoretical description of electrochemical and electro thermal processes. These are applied to the design of various types of electrochemical reactors (electrochemical engineering). Examples of industrial electrochemical and electro thermal processes are highlighted. Introduction to electrochemical processes, electrode kinetics, ionic transfer, mass transfer, electrochemical reactor designs, electrochemical and electro thermal processes.

 Course Objectives

  •  To give students a theoretical background to electrochemical and electro thermal processes.
  •  To apply the theory of electrochemical processes to the design (electrochemical engineering) of various types of electrochemical reactors.
  •   To apply the theory of electro thermal principles
  • To enable students appreciate and apply electrochemical engineering and to industrial situations.
